Our Impact Summary

peter-mangs-family-2015God has implanted in Peter Mang a vision to start a new church in Yangon City. Having received the confirmation of God’s call to start a new church, on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, Peter Mang and his family moved to the 7 Quarter, Hlaingtharyar, Yangon. They had to stay in rented small rooms, small bungalow, tiny apartment and houses at the obscurity among the multi-ethnic communities of Hlaingtharyar. The fund is established with a self-support.

Pastor David Lian and Joshua Lian, they have been taking part of the work of church planting; as a result, it enabled us to have present ministry, that is, fruitful and effective. God has been blessing the gospel ministry with new converts from other faith or non-faith coming to faith in Christ. We organized small groups and started home cell groups at each of the projected mission fields. A disciple follow-up, family-based pastoral care, and prayer meeting is function on a regular basis.

On September 23, 2012, Agape Church conducted its first public worship service at a rented 2-storey house of Agape Mission Center, located in 13 Quarter, Hlaingtharyar. We began functioning Children’s ministry, gathering on Sunday on a regular basis and inspiring a true church-life. Three months later a mission center was closed due to lack of rental. However with the situations we continued functioning house churches and God added more saved believers to Agape Church.

On September 8, 2013, under a godly leadership of Pastor David Lian, we restarted to launch public worship at the new location. Worship services were conducted at a rented apartment of Agape Center for Education, located in 6 Quarter, Hlaingtharyar. Four months later, a rented apartment was closed due to prohibiting restraints, and that we have only got to continue to function with small groups and house churches since then.

Though much temptations, hardships, financial obstacles, prohibiting restraints a church has faced, when we recapture our tremendous responsibility to take care of the church that Christ “purchased with His own blood”(Acts 20:28), we continued attaining with deep conviction and high fervor that lead us into strong spiritual leadership, active service, and effective ministry.
